How Grief Can Impact The Physical Body

The grieving process is different for anyone. Even if you have lost a loved one in the past, funeral homes in Bradenton, FL want you to understand that when you lose someone again, it could be a different process completely. You are going to want to recognize physical symptoms that you can attribute to grief so you are able to move forward into a new normal. Here are some of the ways that grief can impact your body.

    Tiredness Is Common

Being tired is going to be a common side effect of grief. You might not be sleeping well and crying takes a lot out of you, too. You are going to want to do your best to take care of the needs your body has. Rest when you can and do your best to sleep at night, too. Take breaks from planning and even from the grief and give yourself permission to rest. You need the extra rest to get through this hard time.

    Brain Fog Happens

You might feel like you can’t think straight or that you are forgetting more than you usually do. You are highly distracted by the grief, and that makes sense. You might not feel like you can make decisions quickly, and that’s okay, you shouldn’t anyway. Write things down and try to think through options when you just wake up and feel like your mind is as clear as possible before the grief hits again.

Hunger Can Disappear Or Be Prevalent

You might be relatively regular with your hunger pangs and meals, but hunger is something that can fluctuate when you are grieving. You might not feel hungry at all, but it’s important to eat, still, so you can fuel your body with the energy you need to get through this hard time. On the other side, you might be hungry more often since you are going through a lot, perhaps awake more, and maybe even feeding your emotions with the food. Try to eat healthy things and eat regularly.

    Headaches From Crying Happen

Headaches are common as crying hard can certainly cause them. Emotions and stress are also triggers. If you get headaches frequently as it is, you can almost expect them to happen even more when you are grieving. You can take some pain reliever, and try to rest more often to rid yourself of the extra physical pain that you really don’t need right now. Ensuring that a funeral home is an adequate enough size for you and your family is an important step that you will want to take seriously.

    Sleep Issues Arise

It can be hard to sleep at night as your mind might be running on things you need to do for your loved one, plans you need to make, and just how much you are going to miss them. If you have trouble sleeping at night, let yourself sleep in the next day. It’s also okay to nap throughout the day when you feel overtired.

If you are trying to arrange final services with funeral homes in Bradenton, FL for a loved one, grief will be a part of it. While grief is emotional, it’s physical as well.
